VOCs

Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) are compounds that have a high vapour pressure and low water solubility, and can be emitted easily as gases from certain solids or liquids. Many VOCs are human-made chemicals that are produced in the manufacture of paints, pharmaceuticals and refrigerants. They are common components of petroleum fuels, hydraulic fluids, paint thinners and dry cleaning agents.
With the potential to disperse over great distances, VOCs have become a major contributor to global air pollution and are common ground-water contaminants. They include a variety of chemicals, some of which may have short and long-term adverse health effects.
Our extensive range of VOC reference materials has been designed to support your analysis and research needs. If you are unable to locate the reference standard or the format you require, please contact us with your requirements, we’ll be delighted to help.
